What is Middle VR?

MiddleVR is a recognized and popular solution for industry, architecture and research, enabling the development of immersive collaborative simulations in Unity, particularly for advanced immersive systems such as CAVEs (multi-screen immersive environments), PowerWalls and curved screens. Delivered as a plugin for Unity, MiddleVR offers optimized support for multi-display configurations and cluster rendering, while integrating various interaction tools such as motion trackers and VR controllers.

This flexibility makes it a major asset for transforming ideas into captivating immersive experiences, whether for immersive training or complex simulations.

What is Shariiing XR?

Shariiing XR is the latest component in the Shariiing collaboration platform, developed by Immersion.

Thanks to Shariiing XR, a Unity plugin, virtual and augmented reality headsets are now easily integrated into the Shariiing collaborative environment.

The aim is to offer an intuitive interface to link two universes – immersive environments, via XR headsets in particular, and the real world – in order to secure decision-making or promote better learning. In this way, users can interact both locally and remotely: they can “point”, place a marker, guide the user’s gaze, or add a note in the 3D scene.

2 plugins for new possibilities

Prior to the collaboration between Middle VR and Shariiing XR, it was not possible to display the content of a complex immersive system such as a CAVE in Shariiing. This combination now opens up this possibility.

By integrating MiddleVR into the Shariiing offering, users of immersive experiences under Unity will be able, from a Shariiing screen :

◼ Create collaborative sessions between multiple immersive systems (CAVE, L-immersives, Powerwalls, XR headsets, etc.) with a single click.

Shariiing now easily displays and connects content from complex immersive systems. A collaborative session integrating XR headsets and multi-sided environments can be shared in a single session locally or remotely.

◼ Visualize and interact with immersed participants

Several features are present in Shariiing XR for interacting locally or remotely.

Thanks to pointing and guiding tools, or by indicating points of interest in the 3D scene, you can accompany immersed users from a screen by adding this information directly into the visual field of the helmet or immersive system.

Ephemeral annotations can be used to highlight an element in real time, in order to attract attention.

Comments, in the form of “post-its”, offer more precise indications as part of a collaborative work review.

◼ Enrich the experience by integrating additional data

On a split screen, Shariiing supports the display not only of what immersed users see, but also of additional data such as PDF documents, videos or Excel spreadsheets. This integration helps to improve understanding of projects and facilitate decision-making.

◼ Share the session with remote users via videoconferencing

The combination of Middle VR and Shariiing XR considerably simplifies the delivery of immersive content in videoconferencing. It is now possible to share the viewpoint of an XR headset or a system such as a CAVE with remote users. What used to be technically complex is now accessible in just a few clicks.
